A backlight assembly and a liquid crystal display device having the same are provided to reflect a light of light source to a light incident surface of a light guide panel and prevent light supply for an edge area of the light guide panel by surrounding the light sources with a lamp cover and inserting the light guide panel into the lamp cover, thereby preventing generation of Becke's lines and dark lines. A backlight assembly includes at least one or more light sources(10) for supplying light, a light guide panel(30) for guiding light generated from the light sources, and a lamp cover(20) inserted by the light guide panel. The lamp cover has a top surface contacting a light incident surface of the light guide panel and a reflection part formed of flexible materials and coated with light reflecting materials for blocking light transmission through a lower surface of the light guide panel. The reflection part has a stepped difference generated by pressing of the light guide panel after the light guide panel is inserted into the lamp cover. |
