An air pressure proportional damper

An air pressure proportional damper 10 includes a first cylindrical chamber 32 and a second cylindrical chamber 38. The first cylindrical chamber 32 is fluidly attached to the second cylindrical chamber 38 through a down tube 44a and air adjustment valve 22c, the air adjustment valve 22c being positioned at one end of the first cylindrical chamber 32 and the second cylindrical chamber 38. The air adjustment valve 22c regulates flow from the first cylindrical chamber 32 to the second cylindrical chamber 38 in proportion to air pressure received from an accompanying air spring 12 via the hose 68. The air adjustment valve comprises: a valve main body 152; a valve lower main body 156 attached to the valve main body 152; a membrane 154 held in position between the valve lower main body 156 and the valve main body 152; a passage 150 formed in the valve main body 152 to communicate air pressure at a top side of the membrane 154; a sliding valve 164 supported by the valve lower main body 156, one end of the sliding valve 164 being positioned against a lower side of the membrane 154, an opposite side of the sliding valve 164 having a valve seat 190 that closes the down tube 44a from passing fluid to the second cylindrical chamber 38; and a spring 182 positioned between the valve seat 190 and the sliding valve 164, the spring 182 biasing the valve seat 190 to a closed position.
