An apparatus for estimating engine thrust is provided. The apparatus includes a processor coupled to the engine for receiving input from the plurality of sensors. The processor programmed to: obtain information from the engine during a first operating condition, update information from the engine during a second operating condition, and generate engine thrust estimates utilizing the obtained information and the updated information and implementing direct thrust control.
