PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive charge controlling agent having transparency, good compatibility and dispersibility with a binder resin, and excellent also in electrostatic charging power and initial buildup of charging, and to provide an electrophotographic toner containing the same. SOLUTION: The positive charge controlling agent contains a compound represented by formula (1), and may further contain a quaternary ammonium salt group-containing copolymer composed of quaternary ammonium salt group-containing units and other units.
