PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous epoxy resin composition which exhibits good water dispersibility and film formability and can give coating films excellent in an anti-corrosion property. SOLUTION: This aqueous epoxy resin composition comprising an epoxy resin (A) and an amine-based curing agent (B) is characterized in that the amine-based curing agent (B) comprises a compound obtained by reacting a polyamine compound (b1) with a monovalent glycidyl compound (b2) which comprises a compound (b3) represented by the general formula (1) and having a quaternary amine portion and a glycidyl group reacting with an amino group in the polyamine compound (b1).
