The device has a socket part, in which cable sections are fixed as contact points in two rows perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of conductor strands. A plug part (2) has a base part (4) into which plug units (6) are insertable, where plug units overlap the cable sections forming the contact points. The contact points are attached in conductors that run directly next to each other, so that the contact points of adjacent conductor strands are diagonally spaced. A guiding surface (20) with three locking positions is provided in the base part for retaining different plug units (10). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a plug part for a device for contacting a conductor strand of an electrical connecting cable (2) a socket part for a device for contacting a conductor strand of an electrical connecting cable.
