An LCD device and a driving method thereof are provided to decrease a lightness difference between adjacent pixels by controlling a polarity of R,G,B data signals of pixels. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes a data modulation unit(110) and a polarity signal generator for generating polarity signals R,G,B data signals using first and second polarity control signals. The data modulation unit includes a data converting unit(112), a lightness difference producing unit(114), a reference setting unit(118), and a comparator(116). The data converting unit converts the R,G,B data signals corresponding to sub-pixels into lightness signals. The lightness difference producing unit produces lightness differences between adjacent pixels using the lightness signals. The reference setting unit sets a reference value of flicker generated from the lightness signals. The comparator compares the lightness differences and the reference value, and generates the first and second polarity control signals according to the compared result.
