A method is provided for compacting textile articles for packaging. At least one article is placed in a mold. The article is compressed multiple times to for m a rigid bundle, each compression including the steps of subjecting the article to a predetermined pressure for a predetermined period. Between each compression, the pressure is released. Each compression reduces the compacted volume of the rigid bundle.
