The invention relates to a starter device for starting an internal combustion engine consisting of several starters (1) which are connected in parallel and each of which comprises a starter motor (2) and an engaging relay (4). The inventive parallel starting system can be produced in a particularly simple and low-cost manner if at least one starter (1) comprises a power relay (12) which switches a main current circuit (8) to an associated starter motor (2) and if each engaging relay (4), power relay (12) and starter motor (2) are embodied in the form of a structural unit.
