A solid-state image pickup device improved in both linearity and dynamic range. Each pixel part (Pm,n) of the solid-state image pickup device includes an embedded photodiode (PD) for generating charges corresponding to an incident light intensity; a capacitor element (C) which is connected parallel to the embedded photodiode (PD) and accumulates the charges generated by the embedded photodiode (PD); an amplifying transistor (T1) for outputting a voltage value corresponding to a voltage value inputting to a gate terminal; a transfer transistor (T2) for inputting a voltage value corresponding to an accumulated charge quantity in the capacitor element (C) to the gate terminal of the amplifying transistor (T1); a discharging transistor (T3) for discharging the charges in the capacitor element (C); and a selective transistor (T4) for selectively outputting the voltage value outputted from the amplifying transistor (T1) to a wiring (Ln).
