A bush cutting machine with a tubular operating pole (11) connected to an outlet (51a) of an exhaust muffler (51) and doubling as an exhaust passage is provided. Exhaust gases discharged from an engine (13) flow from the exhaust muffler (51) through the operating pole (11), and are then discharged into the air. The substantial capacity of the exhaust muffler (51) is increased by the operating pole (11), and the exhaust noise of the engine (13) is reduced.
