PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document transmission/reception system by which information desired to be received is selected and received at a partner destination. SOLUTION: A user of a FAX terminal 2-0 inputs a telephone number of a partner to whom a document is desired to be transmitted, an outline message of the document for transmission and transmits its information to a server 1 for management. The server 1 for management discriminates an IP address of the partner based on the telephone number of document information from the FAX terminal 2-0 and transmits the document information consisting of the outline message and sender information of the message to specified FAX terminals 2-1, 2-2. Users of the FAX terminals 2-1, 2-2 who watch the message of the document information from the server 1 for management judge the contents described in the message and when the document data is required, makes the FAX terminal 2-0 transmit document data by an FTP protocol and an HTTP protocol by pier-to-pier connection.
