The device has a cover (12) and two clamping elements (18) which have a longitudinal extension (18a) and a fastener (20) and a holding unit (22). The fasteners are arranged for fixing the assigned clamping unit on table top (14). Respective longitudinal extension of assigned clamping unit proceeds transverse to the table level (16). Holding units are provided for holding the cover and for clamping units so that they resist traction forces in the state fixed on table top. Traction forces attack transverse to respective longitudinal extension of the clamping unit at the assigned holding unit.
