LUMINAIRE FOR ILLUMINATING REFLECTION TYPE DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminaire for illuminating a reflection type display device manufactured at a low cost wherein display is easy to see.

SOLUTION: The luminaire 2 for illuminating an electrophoretic display device 1 consists of a linear light source 22 of which light emitting surface 22a is an approximate line shape and a transparent cover body 21 with a reflection function made of an acrylic resin. The cover body 21 has a flat shape same as a display surface 1a of the electrophoretic display device 1 and is inclined to the display surface 1a. In a gap between the electrophoretic display device 1 and the cover body 21, a height h1 of an opening surface 3a is taller than a height h2 of an opening surface 3b at an opposite side. The linear light source 22 consists of one or more light-emitting diode elements (LEDs) 23 and provided so that the light emitting surface 22a is extended near the opening surface 3a in a longitudinal direction of the opening surface 3a to irradiate light toward inside of the gap 3.
