PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission chain with links having improved durability without changing its shape, and to provide a power transmission device. SOLUTION: The power transmission chain comprises the links each of which is formed of a material to which heat treatment is applied so that it has a threshold elastic stress of 1,000 MPa or more. Pre-tension is applied to the link so that a load greater than a load corresponding to the threshold elastic stress is imparted to the link after assembled with a pin. The load to be imparted during pre-tension is set so that the threshold elastic stress is 5% (a value shown in the figure with a broken line) or more than that before the pre-tension and 95% (a value shown in the figure with a solid line) or less of the rupture strength of the link.
