PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for producing a thermoplastic resin free from the problem of odor caused by residual monomer and having excellent storage stability, a crosslinked resin obtained by the thermal melting/crosslinking of the thermoplastic resin, a crosslinked resin composite material obtained by laminating the thermoplastic resin to other material and carrying out the thermal melting/crosslinking of the product, and a crosslinked resin copper-clad laminated board. SOLUTION: The method for the production of a post-crosslinkable thermoplastic resin comprises the bulk polymerization of a monomer liquid containing a cycloolefin (A) having two or more metathesis ring-opening reaction sites in the molecule in an amount of≥10 wt.% based on the total monomer in the presence of a chain transfer agent and a metathesis polymerization catalyst composed of a transition metal complex containing an atom of the group 8 of the long-form periodic table as the central metal atom at a maximum polymerization temperature of <230°C. The invention further provides a method for producing a crosslinked resin by melting and crosslinking the thermoplastic resin, and a method for producing a crosslinked resin composite material (crosslinked resin copper-clad laminated board) by laminating the thermoplastic resin to other material (copper foil) and melting and crosslinking the thermoplastic resin.
