PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in an information terminal operable through a touch panel in which operation of the touch panel is generally performed using an input pen attached to the information terminal, but can be performed using things other than the input pen, and operation of the touch panel with a thing with a hard or sharp tip can damage the touch panel's surface, resulting in shortening of the touch panel's life. SOLUTION: An input pen detector for detecting taking-out of the input pen is provided in an input pen storage part of an information terminal, and validity/invalidity of input function of the touch panel is switched according to the detection signal from the input pen detector. Further, when power supply of the information terminal body is ON, the input function of the touch panel is in an invalid state, and only when the take-out detection signal of the input pen in taking out the input pen is detected, the input function of the touch panel is switched to the valid state.
