PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more surely separate a recording medium from the surface of a fixing roller in a fixing device, in which the fixing roller with an elastic layer laminated on a core shaft, a pressure roller being in press contact with the fixing roller and a separation roller, which is in press cotact with the fixing roller and whose radius is smaller than that of the fixing roller, are included, and the recording medium which carries a toner image is made to pass between the fixing roller and the pressure roller, by turning the recording medium, in a direction where the toner image comes in contact with the heated fixing roller, and then the recording medium is made to pass between the fixing roller and the separation roller, and the recording medium is separated from the surface of the fixing roller. SOLUTION: The separation roller 14 and the fixing roller 12 are respectively rotation-driven so that the surface line speed of the separation roller 14 becomes smaller than the surface line speed of the fixing roller 12, and surface roughness of the separation roller 14 is set to 2 and 30μm in Rz.
