摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing glyoxylic acid from a low cost material ethylene glycol by using an enzyme or a microorganism. SOLUTION: The glyoxylic acid is produced by acting on ethylene glycol an oxidase or a microorganism, which has ability of converting ethylene glycol to glycolaldehyde, an oxidase or a microorganism, which has ability of converting glycolaldehyde to glyoxal, and an oxidase or a microorganism, which has ability of converting glyoxal to glyoxylic acid, or the glyoxylic acid is produced by acting on ethylene glycol an oxidase or a microorganism, which has ability of converting ethylene glycol to glycolaldehyde, an oxidase or a microorganism, which has ability of converting glycolaldehyde to glycolic acid, and an oxidase or a microorganism, which has ability of converting glycolic acid to glyoxylic acid.
