Detergents and toilet bars contain, as germicides, nuclear halogenated salicylanilides in which either or each aromatic ring is substituted by a phenoxy or halogenated phenoxy group. These compounds are stated to form synergistic bacteriostatic mixtures, with 3,4,41-trichlorocarbanilide, 3,5,41 - tribromsalicylanilide or 2,21 - dihydroxy - 3,5,6,31,51,61-hexachlorodiphenylmethane, which may be used in the same manner.ALSO:The invention comprises nuclear halogenated salicylanilides in which either or each aromatic ring is substituted by a phenoxy or halogenated phenoxy group, and a process for making them by condensing an aminodiphenyl ether with a salicylic acid.ALSO:Compounds used as germicides are nuclear halogenated salicylanilides in which either or each aromatic ring is substituted by a phenoxy or halogenated phenoxy group. These compounds are stated to form synergistic bacteriostatic mixtures with 3, 4, 4/sv-trichlorocarbanilide, 3, 5, 4/sv-tribromosalicylanilide or 2, 2/sv-dihydroxy-3, 5, 6, 3/sv, 5/sv, 6/svhexachlorodiphenylmethane. |
