<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain appropriate image forming and to prolong the life of an intermediate transfer belt even when the surface condition of the intermediate transfer belt is changed or deteriorated by soiling or damage. <P>SOLUTION: A printer 100 includes: image forming sections 5Y, 5C, 5M and 5B for forming toner images on photoreceptor drums 51 respectively by an electrophotographic system; the intermediate transfer belt 11 to which the toner images on the photoreceptor drums 51 are to be transferred in a superimposed way; a driving roller 41 and a driven roller 42 which the intermediate transfer belt 11 is placed on and are adapted to drive the intermediate transfer belt 11 in a placed condition; an optical detection member 10 for detecting the surface condition of the intermediate transfer belt 11; and a control section for controlling the surface speed of the photoreceptor drum 51 and/or the moving speed of the intermediate transfer belt 11 based on an output obtained from the optical detection member 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
