In a dry-cleaning apparatus cleaning liquid is circulated from storage tank 18 through conduit 12 via a pump 14 and filter 16 and a valve 22 into a cleaning chamber 10 and returns through valve 24 and conduit 20 to tank 18 via a needle trap 26. A pump 34 draws cleaning liquid from chamber 10 and returns it through openings 40, 42, the liquid jets actuating ultrasonic vibrators 90 to assist the cleaning action. A vapour-air circuit 44 comprises a valve 46 from chamber 10 to a fan 48, a cooler 50 a separating chamber 52, air filter 54, heater 56 and valve 58 back into chamber 10. The liquid from chamber 52 drains back through conduit 58 to storage tanfl 18. A distillation circuit 60 connected to tank 18 comprises a distillation vessel 62, a cooler 64 and a water separator 66. Tube 68 in vessel 62 is surrounded by an oil bath 70 heated by a waste heat circuit 84 from a refrigerator 72 which cools coolers 50 and 64. |
