PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce brightness irregularity caused by a manufacture process. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device comprises: a display panel DP having a plurality of liquid crystal pixels PX and a plurality of thin film transistors T connected to the plurality of the liquid crystal pixels PX; and drive circuits 5, YD, XD for applying a video signal voltage on the corresponding liquid crystal pixels PX by driving each thin film transistor T for writing a non-video signal, applying a non-video signal voltage on the corresponding liquid crystal pixels and further driving the thin film transistor T for writing a video signal. The drive circuits 5, YD, XD apply an over-drive voltage of smaller amplitude than the video signal voltage prior to application of the video signal voltage in a period driving the thin film transistor T for writing the video signal.
