An external camera and an image photographing apparatus are provided to increase the degree of freedom for mounting the external camera, thereby allowing a user to conveniently use the external camera. A case(100) has a receiving space therein. A cover(200) is rotatively joined to the case(100). A camera module(300) is placed within the receiving space such that the camera module is rotated by rotation of the cover(200). The camera module(300) is rotatively supported by a rotating shaft(400). The camera module(300) is fixed to the cover(200). The camera module(300) includes a lens(310), an image sensor for sensing images passing through the lens(310), a PCB(Printed Circuit Board)(330) on which the image sensor is mounted, and a cable connector(340) mounted on the PCB(330).
