PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a track circuit failure by a digital telegram, and to shorten the scanning time for detecting a train, in a scanning type train detecting device. SOLUTION: The scanning type train detecting device successively applies predetermined a train detecting signal to a plurality of track circuits, and detects that a train in on a rail by a receiving level of a receiving signals from the plurality of the track circuits. Digital information is added to the train detecting signal, and applied to the plurality of the track circuits. It is detected that the train is on the rail from the receiving level received from the plurality of the track circuits, and a track circuit failure is detected from the digital information taken out from the receiving signal.
