PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the staining of a mass analyzer in sampling. SOLUTION: A gas detector G is equipped with: a sampling pipe 10 for sampling air by a suction pump 16: and the mass analyzer MS provided to the base end side of the sampling pipe 10 and ionizing the sampled air to analyze the same, a usually closed first on-off value 15 is provided between the suction pump 16 connected to the sampling pipe 10 on this side of the mass analyzer and the mass analyzer MS. Further, a usually closed second on-off valve 14 is provided in the vicinity of the leading end side of the sampling pipe 10 so that the first on-off valve is controlled so as to be opened when the second on-off valve is opened.
