PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pan head unit equipped with a wiper drive means. SOLUTION: The pan head unit is equipped with an image sensing device 114, an image sensing device drive unit 118 which rotates the image sensing device 114 at least in a pan direction, a dome-shaped cover 122 which covers the image sensing device 114, a nearly arcuate wiper 124 having a wiping plane adapted for the outer peripheral surface of the dome-shaped cover 122, and a wiper drive means 126 which rotates the wiper in the pan direction along the outer peripheral surface so as to wipe the outer peripheral surface of the dome-shaped cover 122. The wiper drive means 126 arranges the wiper 124 at a certain position that is not included in the field of imaging of the image sensing device 114 when the wiper 124 is kept on stand-by.
