A framing device for reducing the diameter of an existing aperture in a ceiling board 41 to facilitate the replacement of, for example, a flush lighting unit by a unit having a smaller diameter. The device comprises a collar 1 which is located into the aperture using the lugs 4 and 5 for support against the upper surface of the board with the lugs secured by screws passing through the apertures 6 and 7 into the board 41. The residual gap 40 is then filled with plaster, and sanded to a flush finish and then decorated as required. The device may be produced from a flat strip of material formed into a circular shape with the overlapping ends secured by passing a tongue 2 at one end through a slot in the other end. The lugs 4 and 5 are bent so as to provide for adjustment enabling the lower edge 1a of the strip to be flush with the lower surface of the ceiling board. |
