A light source device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to enhance the luminous efficiency of the device by preventing contact between discharge gas and a lamp body and between the discharge gas and phosphor using a complex phosphor layer. A lamp body(410) is filled with discharge gas, and has a light emitting region(B) and an electrode region(A). An external electrode(420) is formed at a portion corresponding to the electrode region. A complex phosphor layer(430) is formed on an inner surface of the lamp body, and has phosphor and a main protector having a volume smaller than the phosphor. A protection layer(440) is formed on the inner surface of the lamp body at a portion corresponding to the electrode region.
