PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a welding current from being affected by variations in reactive current and to thereby enable stable welding. SOLUTION: A welding step is divided into a preliminary energizing step and a normal welding step. In the preliminary energizing step, immediately before subjecting a connection plate to normal welding to a battery, the connection plate is pushed against the battery cell by an electrode of a resistance welding machine, and a current lower than that to be fed in the normal welding is fed over a period of time shorter than an energizing time of the normal welding. In the normal welding step, a current of predetermined magnitude necessary for the normal welding is fed over a predetermined period of time while maintaining the pressure applied by the electrode of the resistance welding machine, and the electrode is thereby welded to the battery cell.
