[Class 110 (iii).] Blades which operate in wet steam have a portion of their inlet edges provided with means for breaking up particles of water. In Fig. 1 part of the blade is formed of a comb-like structure with knife-edges d cut from the blade itself. Fig. 31 illustrates the combed part as constructed of thin plates ; it may be of different material to the blade, which may be threaded on a wire. The teeth may be inclined upwards or downwards with respect to the blade axis, and the angles of the phases of the saw-cuts may vary. Fig. 21 shows a series of small holes k formed in the inlet edge of a blade. The holes may be elongated in cross section and inclined at various angles. The teeth may be provided with a shroud and shaped as nozzles.
