PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for inspecting lubricating oil capable of accurately determining the amount of particulate mixture mixed into the lubricating oil such as engine oil, in real time regardless of the skill of an inspection person. SOLUTION: Lubricating oil into which a plurality of particulate mixtures containing magnetic substance particles are mixed is heated, the plurality of particulate mixtures mixed into the lubricating oil are extracted by evaporating the lubricating oil, and the extracted mixtures are naturally dropped. A magnetic field is generated in the natural drop passage of the mixtures, a magnetic force is made to act on the magnetic substance particles contained in the mixtures to separate the magnetic substance particles from the natural drop passage, the separated magnetic substance particles are mixed into liquid with a viscosity lower than that of the lubricating oil, and the number of magnetic substances mixed into this liquid is measured by a flow sight meter.
