[Also in Division A5] Novel, therapeutic and herbicidal compounds I (including cis-A, cis-B, trans-C and trans-D compounds and salts, solvates, N-oxides and salts thereof) where n is 1 to 4, R 1 is H, C 1-16 alkyl, phenalkyl, C 1-16 alkanoyl, benzoyl, phenacetyl, p-(CH 2 ) 3 . CO.C 6 H 4 .F, p-SO 2 .C 6 H 4 .NH 2 , alkyl- or dialkylaminoalkyl, or unsubstituted or mono- or polyalkyl-substituted pyrrolidino-, piperidino-, morpholino-, piperazino-, or hexamethyleneiminoalkyl, R 2 is or O =, R 3 , R 4 and R 5 are H, OH, halogen, C 1-6 alkyl, alkoxy and alkanoyloxy, or CF 3 and R 6 is are obtained by cyclizing compounds III or V and, if desired, reducing oxazepinones obtained (by cyclizing V) to afford the corresponding oxazepine; this procedure gives rise to I in which R 1 is H-standard methods are utilized for preparing I in which R 1 is other than H, e.g. alkylation, acetylation and reduction; substituents symbolized as R 3 , R 4 and R 5 can, if appropriate, be converted one into the other and I wherein R 1 is -SO 2 .C 6 H 4 .NH 2 is obtained by reducing the corresponding nitro compound. The preparation of certain of the starting materials and intermediates II, III, IV and V is also described and exemplified as well as salts and solvates thereof; reaction schemes also utilize processes whereby isomers of these starting materials and intermediates are converted into other isomers. Intermediates corresponding to IV and wherein the NH 2 group is replaced by NH.CH 2 Ph are also described and exemplified as are the compounds corresponding to IV in which the CHOH group is replaced by CO. An electrocardiographic jelly comprises a quaternary ammonium salt of I, glycerol, starch and water.</p> |
