PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver capable of shortening the total search time. SOLUTION: Frequency calculation is performed upon search start (S31) and on a stage of RF setting of this frequency (S33), presence/absence of broadcasting waves is confirmed (S34). If present, that frequency is recorded (S35). After the end of confirmation of broadcasting waves regarding all frequencies, the recorded frequency is read out (S41), RF setting is performed on the read frequency (S43), synchronism setting is performed (S44) and information is acquired and recorded (S45). After information is completely acquired for all the recorded frequencies (S42), the acquired information is displayed on a display unit (S51). According to the present receiver, synchronization requiring long time and information acquisition are performed only on a frequency at which the presence of broadcasting waves is confirmed, thereby shortening the time required for search.
