A computer and a control method thereof are provided to improve power efficiency by adjusting a level of power applied to input of a CPU power generator according to a CPU mode. A system operation power generator(70) transforms source power received from a power source(10) and outputs the transformed power to a system part(80). The CPU power generator(50) outputs operation power needed for operating a CPU(60). A controller(30) selectively applies the source power of the power source or the system power transformed in the system operation power generator to an input terminal of the CPU power generator according to a power mode of the CPU. The power mode of the CPU includes a normal and power-saving mode. If the CPU is operated in the power-saving mode, the controller applies the system power transformed in the system operation power generator to the input terminal of the CPU power generator.
