<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automatically adding required control information in data structure when contents and performance of automated devices of an industrial automation system change. <P>SOLUTION: The industrial automation system 100 comprises a processor 102 with an updating component 110 coupled to the automated devices 114 via a network 112. The updating component 110 reads control information from machine readable representations 116 of the devices 114 and populates the data structure 104 with the control information. The updating component 110 also updates configuration information of a device from data stored in a file object and/or the data structure, further allowing this transfer to be fragmented into a plurality of messages if the configuration information exceeds a threshold. Also, a vendor deployment methodology is provided for updating the DTM after the deployment by embedding devices and firmware for devices with a Device Type Manager (DTM) prior to deployment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
