<p>1278741 Silencers SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER A B 19 April 1971 [10 Feb 1970] 6329/70 Heading F1B A compressor has its inlet and/or outlet connected through a muffler to a gas duct system and the muffler comprises a casing 12, Fig. 1 connected to the compressor containing sound dampening means, a jacket 22 spaced from the casing to surround at least a major portion thereof, being in contact with the casing solely by elastomeric elements and connected to the duct system. In inflatable hose 32, which is connected with the high pressure gas system through passage 34, holds the casing 12 in contact with sealing ring 44 Fig. la. The gas having free access to the upper side of sealing ring 44 through grooves 54. The interspace, which may enclose glass wool or plastics, communicates with ambient air via hole 50. The casing and jacket may be of metal or plastics. Passage 34 may be omitted and cooling air circulated through hose 32. In another embodiment the jacket end wall (26) Fig. 2 (not shown) is integral with duct (30) and is bolted to a flange (26a) on the cylindrical jacket wall (24), the end portions of the casing (10) being held by sealing rings (60) having an L-shaped cross section. The contacting surface between the rings (60) and the jacket (22) may be conical. In another embodiment a jacket collar 78, Fig. 3 carries an elastomeric ring which contacts the periphery of flange 64 on the compressor outlet. The other end of the casing 10 has a flange 74 which is sandwiched by elastomeric rings 74, 76.</p> |
