DISPLAY DEVICE USING SPATIAL OPTICAL MODULATOR WITH LIGHT FILTERING FUNCTION AND METHOD THEREOF

A display device using an optical modulator with a light shielding function and a method thereof are provided to mechanically restrict signal distortion caused due to electrical on/off operations and to prevent the rising or falling time from being extended. A display device using an optical modulator(340) with a light shielding function is composed of light sources(305,310,315) for emitting the light; the optical modulator for emitting the diffracted light by reflecting and diffracting the light emitted from the light source; a light shielding unit(320) for mechanically opening or shielding the light emitted from the light source; and an optical scanner(350) rotated according to a pre-set period to reflect the light passing through the light shielding unit and then emit the reflected to a screen.
