A device and a method for selectively operating an LED are provided to efficiently operate a system according to a situation of a system by enabling a user to set and change an LED operation condition according to taste of the user. A display part(210) provides a setting menu for selecting the LED operation condition. An input part(220) selects the setting menu or inputs a setting value of the setting menu. An operator(230) determines whether the selected setting menu is agreed to the LED operation condition and operates the LED according to the selected setting menu if the LED operation condition is satisfied. The LED operation condition includes at least one of a flickering speed, and intensity of color and light. The setting menu includes at least one of an alarm setting menu and a mail setting menu. The alarm setting menu includes at least one of time, temperature, and remaining battery power. The mail setting menu includes at least one of mail reception, mail transfer, and mail transfer failure.
