The present invention discloses a method of hierarchical processing the documents in which the documents stored by page. The method includes: grouping the data of the pages in the document, setting every group as a layer and arranging the layers in order; managing and controlling each layer respectively. The present invention also discloses a system of hierarchical processing the documents, it comprises: the first unit for storing the documents by page; the second unit for grouping the data of the pages in the document, setting every group as a layer and arranging the layers in order; the third unit for managing and controlling each layer respectively. The use of the solution implements the document's hierarchical processing in the document base system to make the operation of the documents more flexible.
