PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve safety of a battery pack so made that a control IC controls charging current from a charger to charge a secondary battery in exchanging communication with the charger, and at the same time, a double-protection IC is separately provided for double protection in an emergency against deactivation or the like of protective operation by the control IC. SOLUTION: The double-protection IC 23 sends signals indicating execution of the protective operation from a communication part 22 of the control IC 18 to the charger 2 at the execution of the operation. Therefore, the charger 2 side can also recognize the double-protection operation, so that, even if the protective operation by the control IC 18 is deactivated and the charging current is continued to be supplied, safety can be improved by shutting it out. Further, since a threshold value of operations is high in general, as, for instance, a judgment voltage in overcharge is higher at the protection operation by the double-protection IC 23 than by the control IC 18, and damages are so large that fuses 24, 25 are blown out or the like in a protective operation, a more appropriate countermeasure can be taken such as communicating inoperable states of the charger 2, a load equipment, or the like.
