<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vapor-phase grown carbon fiber can be used as various kinds of filters, adsorbing agents or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The a vapor-phase grown carbon fiber is produced by laminating many of bottomless cup-shaped carbon network layers in which the bottomless cup shaped carbon network layers slit out from adjacent layers, thereby the carbon network layers are divided into several layers to several hundred layers, and the annular end faces of the carbon layers are exposed and the exposed annular end faces of the respective layers are a mixture of an armchair edge, zig-zag edge and chiral edge. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
