PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferritic free-cutting stainless steel having satisfactory machinability and corrosion resistance. SOLUTION: The ferritic free-cutting stainless steel has a composition comprising, by mass, 0.005 to 0.05% C, 0.10 to 2.0% Si, 0.05 to 0.6% Mn, 0.01 to 0.10% P, 0.30 to 0.60% S, 0.01 to 2.0% Cu, 0.01 to 2.0% Ni, 16.0 to 25.0% Cr, 0.01 to 4.0% Mo, 0.10 to 1.0% Ti,≤0.015% O,≤0.020% N and 0.010 to 0.100% Al, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and satisfies inequalities (1) to (3): 0.08≤[Mn(%)]/[S(%)]≤1.66 (1), 0.50≤[Ti(%)]/[S(%)]≤1.5 (2), and [S(%)]/[C(%)]≥10.0 (3).
