The proposed device for detecting faults in an electrical equipment system of a motor vehicle contains a power-supply unit, a switching unit, a display unit with light-emitting diodes, a voltage regulator, and additionally, a switch, a test signal generator, an optoelectronic-coupler switch, a reset circuit for the proposed device, and a memory element. The algorithm for detection faults implies generating a test signal, which is transmitted over the tested circuits of the electric equipment system, locating the fault detected, and displaying the fault. The proposed device provides a possibility to reduce time in detecting faults and increase the reliability of an electrical equipment system of a motor vehicle.
