A wheelchair comprises two pivotally connected, rigid sections supporting a pair of rear wheels and at least one front wheel 2 respectively, the pivotal axis extending substantially parallel to a line joining the rotational centres of the rear wheels; and means for locking the sections in a predetermined relative position. The rear wheels may be detachable from mounts 48. Each section may be a tubular metal frame. The locking means may comprise an elongate member pivotally mounted on each section (40 figure 2) with their distal ends pivotally coupled 42, said coupling being lockable, such as by a slidable sleeve 38, to hold the two sections in the predetermined relative position. The seat backrest, the footrests and the armrests may all be collapsible. |
