PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure terminal functions and to attain automatic repair of a program, even in the case of power source hits or program runaway or the like, at on-line rewriting of the program of a digital terminal. SOLUTION: Applications 2A and 2B and check sum 3A and 3B are written to a flash ROM; and the application A copied on an RAM receives a new program and a new check sum, and confirms the validity (S2), and erases an application 2B and the check sum (S3), and rewrites this section with a new program and a new check sum (S4), and erases the application 2A and the check sum (S5), and rewrites this section with a new program and a new application sum (S6). A boot program 1 includes determining the validity of the application 2B, when an abnormality is detected in the application 2A, and copying the application 2B to the application 2A.
