PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gel particle which is capable of safely and conveniently manufacturing it at a low cost and of utilizing it as a separation material of a biology related material such as a cell and protein. SOLUTION: The gel particle consists of low methoxylated pectin or a sodium alginate and a polyvalent metal wherein the content of the polyvalent metal is 2% or more in the particle dry weight.
