A robot suitable for cleaning aircraft, shuttles, helicopters and the like comprises a cleaning head, a chassis 29, a solvent tank 28, a hose 4 and a plurality of arms 17,18,20,22,24,26 connected to a first adjacent arm by a hinge 5,12,19,23,27 at a first end and to a second adjacent arm by a steering joint 16,21,25,at a second end. The cleaning head is connected to an arm at one end of the series and the chassis 29 is connected to an arm at the other end of the series. Solvent is transferred from the solvent tank 28 to the cleaning head via the hose 4. The cleaning head preferably comprises cloth 1, nozzles 13, a damper and spring mechanism 8,9, and a hinge. The robot is preferably movable and mounted to a lorry or other movable device 29. A motor 31 is preferably used to control the steering joint which as described in the embodiment rotates about its longitudinal axis. |
