A hydrocarbon contains a compound of the formula <FORM:0931923/III/1> where R and R1 are alkyl or alkenyl, R2 and R3 are alkylene having 2-4 carbon atoms between the nitrogen atoms, R4 is hydrogen or <FORM:0931923/III/2> and x is 0 to 3, as a corrosion inhibitor. The compound may be added to the hydrocarbon before distillation, and, being volatile, it protects all parts of the distillation apparatus. Numerous examples of compounds having formulae of the above general type are given. |
