PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll body holding device capable of holding roll bodies with different inner diameters of paper tubes. SOLUTION: First elastic pieces 6 are pressed and contacted to the paper tube inner face by inserting the protruding portion 5 of a holding device body 1 into the paper tube without mounting an adapter 2 in the case of holding a roll body with a small inner diameter of a paper tube by the roll body holding device 15. A sheath portion 8 is covered to a protruding portion 5 and detent portions 9 are inserted in slots 7, thereafter the adapter 2 is turned to engage the detent porions 9 with the slots 7, the first elastic pieces 6 are fitted into fitting recessed portions 11, and the adapter 2 is mounted to the holding device body 1 so as not to be able to be removed and rotated in the case of holding a roll body with a large inner diameter of a paper tube. Thereafter the sheath portion 8 is inserted into the paper tube to press and contact second elastic pieces 10 to the inner face of the paper tube. The engagement between the detent portions 9 and the slots 7 are released by rotating the adapter 2 after releasing the fitting between the first elastic pieces 6 and the fitting recessed portions 11 by inserting a releasing member 3 into the gap between the protruding portion 5 and the sheath portion 8 when dismounting the adapter 2.
